In a fight, whoever manages the distance, manages the damage that can be done! The one major shortcoming of regular jiu-jitsu sparring is the lack of consideration for the “striking distances” that happen so readily in street fights. Although regular sparring takes place every day at Gracie University Headquarters, students wear these 5.5 oz. gloves for “Street Sparring” at least once a week to ensure that their “distance management swords” remain sharp at all times. Whether you are training at a sport BJJ school or at a Gracie Garage, we recommend you do the same!

Imporant Sizing Note: Because these gloves are made from genuine leather, they may fit snugger (than our previous generation of sparring gloves) at the start but will loosen/stretch over time (typically 5-10 sparring sessions). Please measure your hand and reference our revised size chart to ensure the best fit. If you are on the border between two sizes, but you have thick fingers, you should choose the larger size, whereas if you have thinner fingers, you should choose the smaller size.

Note: Large gloves do not feature a white logo and have an embossed sunken logo.
