What is a Martial Arts Tournament?
A martial arts tournament is an event where students have the opportunity to showcase the skills they’ve learned in karate, kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) in a structured and supportive environment. They compete in friendly matches against their peers, judged by experienced instructors to ensure fairness and encouragement. Each match is a safe, positive experience, focusing on personal growth, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Why Register?

  1. Skill Development: Competing helps students refine their skills under real match conditions, building confidence and resilience.
  2. Goal Setting: Preparing for a tournament gives students something concrete to aim for, boosting their motivation and focus during regular classes.
  3. Community and Camaraderie: Students bond with teammates and form lasting friendships as they cheer each other on.
  4. Sportsmanship and Discipline: Competing teaches students how to handle both wins and losses gracefully, an essential life skill.

This tournament is more than just competition; it’s a celebration of your child’s hard work and growth. We encourage all families to join us and support the young martial artists as they experience this exciting and fulfilling event!

Tournament Details and Schedule

How is the Tournament Structured?
The tournament is organized into divisions based on students’ skill levels and age groups, covering each martial art: karate, kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Within each division, there are multiple subdivisions, each focusing on specific skills or techniques. For example, in karate, students can demonstrate blocks, strikes, stances, board breaks, and various kata options. Similarly, in kickboxing and BJJ, they can showcase specific techniques or combinations.

Flexible Participation in Subdivisions
Students have the freedom to choose which subdivisions to participate in within their division. The more subdivisions they enter, the more points they can potentially earn. Points are awarded based on performance in each subdivision, and the scores are then aggregated within the division to determine the overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. This structure not only allows students to play to their strengths and preferences but also encourages them to challenge themselves across various skills.

Why Register for Multiple Subdivisions?
By participating in multiple subdivisions, students can maximize their experience, building confidence and proficiency in different areas of their chosen martial art. Plus, participating in more categories increases their chance to accumulate points, enhancing their chances to place in the top three for their division and gain Grand Champion title.

Grand Champion Prize – Win a Free Summer Camp or Birthday Party!
The Grand Champion title is awarded to the student who earns the highest total points across all divisions and subdivisions. The winner will receive a special prize: their choice of a free summer camp session or a birthday party at our dojo.

Promotion Ceremony
The tournament will conclude with a special Promotion Ceremony to honor the hard work and achievements of our dedicated students. We are thrilled to announce that Nick Zisk will be promoting to Second Degree Black Belt and Ozlem Ponarin will be promoting to Gray Belt. Both Nick and Ozlem will give special performances throughout the event, showcasing the skills and dedication that have earned them these promotions.

This ceremony is a powerful moment for all students, as it highlights the dedication, discipline, and perseverance required to reach new levels in their martial arts journey. We invite everyone to stay and celebrate these achievements with us!
